Ludo
The classic board game, online. Play with friends, strangers or bots on Windows and Linux.
Download
Roll the die, race your four pieces around the board and bring them all home before anyone else. Land on an opponent to send them back to the start.
Features
- Log in with your Discord account. No new password to remember.
- Join a public game from the lobby, or start a private one and share the 6-letter room code.
- Fill empty seats with bots: Easy, Normal or Hard.
- If someone drops out, a bot plays for them until they come back.
- The game updates itself every time it starts.
How to play
These are the rules the game uses. They are a little different from the board game you may know.
Goal
Be the first to move all 4 of your pieces into the 4 home spaces of your color.
Colors and turn order
- In the waiting room, pick a free color for your seat. The host picks the colors of bots.
- Your color decides where your pieces start. Turns go clockwise around the board: red, green, yellow, blue.
Your turn
- Roll the die.
- A 6 always gives you another roll, even when you cannot move. Anything else ends your turn after you move.
- If you can move, you must. Pick one of your glowing pieces. Point at a piece to see where it would land.
Leaving your base
- You need a 6 to bring a piece out onto your start space (the colored space with the arrow).
- You cannot bring a piece out while your own piece stands on your start space. Move it on first.
Moving
- Pieces move the exact number rolled, clockwise around the board.
- After almost a full lap, a piece turns into your home lane at the space with your bent arrow.
- The home lane has 4 spaces. A piece must land on a free space with the exact roll. It cannot move past the end.
One piece per space
- You can never land on your own piece.
- Landing on an opponent's piece knocks it out. It goes back to its base.
- There are no safe spaces, and a knock-out does not give an extra roll.
Blocking
The host turns blocking on or off. It is on by default.
- When it is on, no piece can pass another piece, yours or anyone's, on the track or in the home lane.
- Stop in front of it, or roll the exact number to land on an opponent and knock it out.
- When it is off, pieces may jump over others. There is still only one piece per space.
Bots and players who leave
- The host can fill empty seats with bots: Easy, Normal or Hard.
- If you drop out of a game, a bot plays for you after 15 seconds. Come back and you take your seat back.
- "Leave game" gives your seat to a bot for the rest of the game.
Winning and places
- The game ends when the first player fills all 4 home spaces.
- The others are ranked by how many spaces their pieces still needed to fill their home spaces. Fewer is better.
- Players with the same number share a place and its trophy (1st, 2nd, 2nd, 4th).
How to install
- Windows: download the installer and run it.
- Linux: download the AppImage for your computer (x86-64, or ARM64),
make it executable (
chmod +x SoriResitve.Ludo*.AppImage) and run it.
You need a Discord account and an internet connection to play.
